Reader Comments
(page 1 of 1)I've submitted quite a few articles, one was purchased which happily shocked me, but so far the rest have been rejected. I'm glad you guys are posting successful articles which I plan to use as a guideline for my own writing, however, I'm wondering if the SEED editing team has been able to get things set up to give individual feedback on articles yet? I understand SEED is still an infant and you guys are hard at work in the development stages so please don't take this as impatience. I'm merely eagerly anticipating such a feature.
Thanks,
Eboni
Hi Kristi
Would you please clarify about what you have been discussing in reference to assigining articles to individual writers who you have been working with? I'm not sure what qualifies a person to be considered as one you have been working with previously. Does one article accepted count or is it more? I'd appreciate knowing so I can decide if I want to stay and continue writing here. I love writing the articles and from where I sit, I don't see any real difference between mine and other's articles, but obviously the editors do and I have had the majority I've submitted rejected. Please give some clarification to let me and others know what kind of chances we have for longer term work. Please feel free to write to me offline if you like. Many thanks. Susan
Hello,
I agree with the above sentiments, as I am an author who is also puzzled as to why my content isn't being accepted. It has been very disheartening to see each article I submit rejected, and I have no idea why. I've stopped claiming articles simply because I fear putting hours into an assignment that will eventually be rejected.
I hope that this comment doesn't come off as being critical, as I am still interested in working with Seed.com and I know adjustments are still being made to the site. I appreciate the opportunity Seed.com offers for new writers, and it is my desire to work here that moves me to write this. I just want to know what more I can do in this regard.
Thanks
I am encouraged. Even though I've only submitted two articles as of todate which both were rejected. Reasons were due to either not having photo included or that article was not an exact fit for Aol sites. After further reading the latest submissions approved since the inception of Seed, I understand that articles that were rejected wasn't because they were bad articles, but rejected due to the fact that Seed can only accept a limited number at a time.
I also feel that the investment and time spent in creating and producing articles were well worth the effort. For me, it has begun to open doors I've never really recognized. I will continue with Seed for as long as they will allow and I'll also venture else where to share the written expression.
If you are an author, and have published your work, then you have accomplished a greater feat, one to be respected and admired. The admiration begins with self. So as an author, I will say you're never defeated even when you are rejected. Trust God and believe in yourself.
I concur with Eboni, Susan and Kay. I started writing articles in my spare time a few weeks ago, and so far I am zero for five. I'm having a harder time getting articles accepted on seed than i did getting accepted to an ivy league school!
I'd like to keep writing, but I don't know what to do differently, and the form emails advising me that my article wasn't accepted "because it isn't an exact match for one of AOL's sites" are puzzling. If it's not a match for one of your sites, why did you post the assignment???
Can someone tell me what percentage of articles submitted are accepted? Is it roughly 1/3? 1/10? 1/100?? If I understand my chances of acceptance, I'll be able to manage my time - and my expectations - much better.
Hi, all.
I'm noticing two common themes here, and I'd like to offer some insight.
Eboni and Susan -- We are working on ways to personalize the editor-to-creator relationship. We've made some recent changes to the editor interface of the Seed platform that will allow them to more easily reach out to you.
Susan -- You ask what qualifies a person to have the opportunity to work with editors on more of an ongoing basis. As you start getting work published and develop a relationship with the editors buying your work, you will most likely receive more assignments. We envision this sort of relationship growing organically.
Writer_Kay89 and Kristina -- I know it is frustrating to continually have work rejected with no helpful feedback, time and again. We're also working on staffing up with editors who can offer this personalized feedback. Yes, when we first launched, we did have to reject a lot based on sheer volume, which is why we're focusing more on more focused assignments with shorter due dates, with more editors on hand to review, offer feedback, and start building working relationships with you.
I hope this insight helps,
Kristi
Hi Kristi,
Thank you as I truly appreciate your response. Despite my frustration in my articles continually being rejected, I will say that it's reassuring to know that these concerns are being addressed.
I am eagerly anticipating personalized feedback so I can have a better understanding of how I can improve the quality of my writing, and I will probably take a break from writing here until the feedback is offered.
Thanks again, and I hope I will be able work as a true published seed writer in the near future.
